Aligning Patent and Corporate Goals

You spend a lot of time thinking and prioritizing which technologies and product features are going to make there way into your product offerings. We bring that same focus to your patent portfolio, whether its already underway or your starting from scratch. We work with your management and technology teams to understand your technology advances, alternate technologies, and management's goals so we can properly align the patents with the corporation's goals. We also arrange the portfolio with flexibility. In the event the corporate plans change, we can shift the focus of the patent applications in process.
Building the 'Matrix'
We take the information we gather and develop a matrix to visualize the portfolio's priorities, areas of new focus, and areas that should maintain flexibility. A thoughtfully developed matrix provides us with the guide needed to better develop and prosecuted the underlying patent applications. We, along with you, spend considerable effort in understanding the space and the priorities so we can generate high value issued patents.
As you know, without a strategy, there is no guide for tactics. With a fully developed strategy, the patent applications and prosecution have real direction that is aligned with your corporate needs.
Patent Applications, Continuations, and Prosecution
We usually work with your existing prosecution firm or we can select another for you depending on your current relationships. We find that the prosecution firms generally appreciate the guidance we provide them because they understand the value of good alignment. We also write disclosures, provisionals, and non-provisionals that we have filed through a prosecution focused firm. Patent prosecution is a very important skill set and we believe in great prosecutors. We are great prosecutors but we've chosen to work with ones that do it everyday.
Remember to only work with Patent Attorneys and Patent Agents when working to align, generate and prosecute patent applications. There are a fair number of firms that describe themselves as innovation developers, inspirers, etc. - be careful.
